Victoria Beckham is lashing out a critics who have accused her of having a miserable image as of late. Remember people, she just had a baby and went back to work soon there after! give the woman a break, I think she looks incredible, and seems to be pulling off Super Mom quite well. She tells Britain?s Sunday Mirror, ?Look, if people want to say I?m miserable then so be it. I?m really not. I have a lot on my plate. I?m not going to lie about it, I?m tired. <P><a href="/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> might not have known how big <a href="/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> would become when he discovered him a few years back, but he was pretty sure he had found something special. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:712878" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Since Bieber burst on the scene with his <i>My World</i> EP back in 2009, the 17-year-old has grown up with the world watching. He's gone from up-and-comer to full-fledged pop sensation, racking up chart-topping albums and a box-office hit and becoming an all-around mega-heartthrob — all in two years. Of course, with the good does come negative attention as well. Recently, Bieber was hit with a <a href="/news/articles/1674509/justin-bieber-paternity-suit-dropped-2.jhtml">paternity lawsuit, which has since been dropped</a>. Usher, no stranger to his own controversies, had these words for the Biebs: "Stay strong. And know that all of this comes with the territory." Aside from the drama, Usher is especially proud of Bieber's charitable side. His mentor said he "absolutely" knew the kid from Stratford, Ontario, had a big heart from the start. "To write a check is only half of it, but when you truly take on a responsibility to be a philanthropist, you accept an effort, and I really think that Pencils of Promise is something that has a very bright future," <a href="/news/articles/1674628/justin-bieber-new-york-city.jhtml">Usher told MTV News at an event for the charity</a>, noting that Bieber is a only a small part of it. Usher — who appears on Bieber's new Christmas album, <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml"><i>Under the Mistletoe</i></a> — gives credit to the folks surrounding the teen superstar, including manager Scooter Braun. "Just judging from the determination and the will power of the entire team around Justin, I see a very, very promising [future] for him as a philanthropist," Usher said.</p>

We forecast the year that will be for your favorite stars, in Bigger Than the Sound.

<P>Welcome to 2012, the year that will either bring us <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon" target="_blank">the end of civilization</a> as we know it or perhaps flying cars (finally!) Of course, between those two events, there's also going to be a presidential election, the London Olympics and that last "Twilight" movie (finally x 100!), not to mention a whole lot of activity within the lives of your favorite stars, too: Babies, weddings, honorary doctorates in nanotechnology; <i>this</i> is the year it'll all happen. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:722495.id:1672369" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Which is why, with the new year upon us, I've decided to get my <a href="http://www.amazingkreskin.com/" target="_blank">Kreskin</a> on with these predictions for 2012. Don't ask me to gaze deep into my crystal ball and try to foresee who'll win the White House or the World Series, because, seriously, if I knew that, don't you think I'd be wagering right now? Instead, I'm tackling the <i>important</i> topics. Here's my 2012 forecast for the Beyoncés and Britneys of the world ... partly cloudy, with a zero-percent chance of accuracy. » <a href="/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> and <a href="/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> will welcome a daughter, who, upon her, uh, <i>release,</i> will also release her debut single, "Run the World (Me)." » <a href="/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a> will win every single Grammy, including a stunning upset of <i>Eres Un Farsante</i> in the Best Regional Mexican Or Tejano Album category. » <a href="/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and Jason Trawick will tie the knot in an elaborate, multi-denominational ceremony held — eh, I don't even care enough to finish this one. » <a href="/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a>, having finally run out of singles to release off <i>Teenage Dream,</i> will spend the entirety of 2012 shooting videos for objects around her house. Her hits will include "Toaster," "KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer" and "This Towel Set Someone Gave Russell and I for Our Wedding That We Keep in the Guest Bathroom." » <a href="/music/artist/dr_dre/artist.jhtml">Dr. Dre</a> will indefinitely scrap <i>Detox</i> and instead drop a more age-appropriate album called <i>The Chronic Arthritis.</i> » <a href="/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> will wear a crazy hat or something. » <a href="/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> will release six albums in 2012, each more raunchy than the last. Titles include <i>Speculum,</i> <i>[Censored] [Censored] On My [Censored],</i> and <i>Songs About F---ing,</i> which, oddly, will be a note-for-note remake of Big Black's <i>Songs About F---ing.</i> » Dave Grohl is sure to do something awesome. » <a href="/music/artist/drake/artist.jhtml">Drake</a>'s sweater game will become so advanced that he will surpass Bill Cosby as the world's foremost expert on multi-hued knitwear. On a related note, he will also release a comedy album called <i>To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With.</i> » <a href="/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> will stun the fashionistas when she appears at the annual Met Ball wearing a nice pantsuit she bought at Bealls. » <a href="/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> will finally get that bike without the training wheels, since he's a big boy now. » <a href="/music/artist/black_keys/artist.jhtml">The Black Keys</a>, buoyed by the success of their <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/the-black-keys/706819/lonely-boy.jhtml">"Lonely Boy" video</a>, will shoot another dance-only clip for "Gold on the Ceiling," this one set at Gallagher's 2000 and featuring nothing but topless women. Surprisingly, it will become the most-viewed music video in the history of everything. » <a href="/music/artist/lil_wayne/artist.jhtml">Lil Wayne</a> will come full circle, get a tattoo <i>of</i> his face <i>on</i> his face. » <a href="/music/artist/guns_n_roses/artist.jhtml">Guns N' Roses</a> will reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April, only with that dude who plays a guitar shaped like a foot filling in for Slash and Tommy Stinson replacing Duff on bass. So, actually, it won't be Guns N' Roses at all. » <a href="/music/artist/coldplay/artist.jhtml">Coldplay</a>'s Chris Martin is just going to be fingerpainting everything. » <a href="/music/artist/ross__rick__rap_/artist.jhtml">Rick Ross</a> will be named the Memphis Restaurant Association's Restaurateur of the Year for his tremendous achievements in <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/08/05/rick-ross-wingstop">Wingstop-ery.</a> » <a href="/music/artist/west_kanye/artist.jhtml">Kanye West</a> will <i>literally</i> explode. » Fans of <a href="/music/artist/skrillex/artist.jhtml">Skrillex</a> will stop and realize that, in 1997, EDM was poised take over America too, and we ended up with Limp Bizkit as a result.</p>

The role of Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime movie will be played by Lindsay Lohan, shocked by the announcement well join the freaking club. This news does leave me wondering one thing, will you watch Lilo as the screen legend? WTF was Lifetime thinking when they cast Lohan as the Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. That move alone will totally cost them the film; ugh I mean seriously train wreck Lindsay. The thought of the sometimes actress playing one of the most talented woman of all time is really making me want to toss my lunch. In case you are unaware the Lifetime Original movie will focus on the turbulent romance of Taylor and Richard Burton. Although the powers that be at the network are insisting that Lindsay fulfill her probation requirements before the film begins shooting in March I see nothing but disaster for this movie. I was so looking forward to watching something about Elizabeth and Richard too but now that Lilo has been cast as Liz I am pretty sure I am not going to be able to tune in. The lady of the night, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, sparkled from head to toe on the red carpet in a black Armani gown, showing off a lighter hair color in her first performance since having <a href="/news/articles/1673944/adele-throat-surgery-recovery.jhtml">vocal-cord surgery</a>. <a href="http://style.mtv.com/2012/02/12/grammy-awards-fashion-best-dressed/"><b>MTV Style picks their best-dressed at the Grammys.</b></a> Fellow British artist Jessie J shined on her first Grammy red carpet, turning heads in a gray Julien Macdonald gown. "I just wanted to wear something that I don't usually wear, which is silver, something long and very heavy," Jessie told MTV News. "I feel like a disco ball at the event." <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a> was <a href="/news/articles/1679098/grammy-awards-katy-perry.jhtml">feeling blue at the Grammys</a>, matching her blue hairstyle to a light-blue, long-sleeved Elie Saab gown. "One of my absolute favorites of the night was Katy Perry," <a href="http://www.celebuzz.com/" target="_blank">Celebuzz</a> producer Rachel Maresca told MTV News. "She paired her bold, blue hair with a very light-blue Elie Saab lace gown. She looked stunning, and it's a more subdued look for her. We don't always see that out of her, but it is very glamorous." Another statement dress belonged to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/fergie_bep_/artist.jhtml">Fergie</a>, who called her Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown her "safe choice," which it was far from. The vibrant orange lace gown allowed her black bra and panties to see through, but according to Fergie, when Gaultier gives you a custom look, you have to wear it. "When Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown comes and it's shipped to you and it fits, you wear it," <a href="/news/articles/1679082/grammy-awards-fergie-whitney-houston.jhtml">Fergie told our own Sway Calloway</a>. Yet, out of all these amazing artists, it seems the fashion night belonged to Rihanna. Jaws dropped as she worked the carpet in a one-of-a-kind Armani dress that she helped design. With a plunging neckline and a deep halter, this dress hugged every curve to perfection. <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:732065/cp~id%3D1678854%26vid%3D732065%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A732065%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> <b>Stick with MTV News for all the news on Whitney Houston's tribute, the <a href="http://style.mtv.com/category/awards-shows/">Grammy red-carpet fashion</a>, <a href="/news/articles/1678701/grammy-winners-list.jhtml">Grammy winners</a> and more until the hangover wears off!</b></p>

<P>On November 1, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> will take his fans <a href="/news/articles/1672827/justin-bieber-under-the-mistletoe.jhtml"><i>Under the Mistletoe</i></a> on his holiday album. But he's giving them an early treat by releasing his <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> duet, "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," on Monday (October 24). </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1672718" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The song dropped on Ryan Seacrest's <a href="http://ryanseacrest.com/2011/10/24/usher-premieres-duet-with-justin-bieber-chestnuts-over-an-open-fire-audio/" target="_blank">radio show</a>. Its vibe is reminiscent of '90s R&B tracks, and it sounds a lot like it could have been recorded by Boyz II Men, who also appear on the album. The Christmas classic is all about the little joys of the holiday season, including the family get-togethers, the food and Santa bringing presents to children. The song, one of the classics that appears on the album, hits iTunes on Monday. Bieber and Usher previously appeared together on "Somebody to Love" off <i>My World 2.0.</i> "Justin and I did the classic record 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.' This record is going to be remembered for years to come," Usher told Seacrest on Monday morning. "It's a record that has always been one of my favorites, and I'm happy that I was able to share it with Justin, and for us to put it out. The album is full of surprises. Justin's <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> is going to be incredible!" In the lead-up to the release, Bieber <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/128163827832467456" target="_blank">released</a> some behind-the-scenes footage of his mentor and him in the studio working on the song. My good friend Caprice Crane's new book, With a Little Luck, is out today. Yay, Caprice!
It's gotten great reviews:
"Crane is one of the funniest writers of popular fiction around. The dialog (inner and outer) is laugh-out-loud, snort-inducing hilarious . . . Readers will want to cross their fingers and spit while throwing salt over their shoulders if it helps Berry reach her dreams. Highly recommended."
—Library Journal
"Fans of Stacy Ballis and Cara Lockwood will appreciate Crane's effortlessly funny style, which is often attempted in popular fiction but is rarely this well executed...Lighthearted and charmingly honest."
—Booklist
"[A] satisfying romantic comedy...[with] real character growth."
—Kirkus Reviews
And even better blurbs:
"Romantic, poignant and funny—this book is a lucky find for lit fans. Caprice Crane is a nimble and gifted storyteller."
—Diablo Cody, Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Juno
"A hilarious romp that oozes charm and giddy fun. Caprice Crane is a true talent."
—Molly Jong-Fast, author of The Social Climber's Handbook
"Witty, fast-paced, and sheer fun. Caprice Crane is a master of dialogue. Half the time I was reading this book I was smiling, which made me look like a crazy person on the subway."
—Jancee Dunn, author of Don’t You Forget About Me and Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo?
"Absolutely charming and hilarious."

<P>What's the point of getting all dolled up for the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammy Awards</a> if no one notices your outfit? Since not everyone can earn a nomination or score a performance slot, sometimes you have to make your own news by crashing the red carpet with an eye-popping outfit that is sure to get tongues wagging. It's anyone's guess what this year's attendees will be wearing on Sunday night at the 54th annual awards show, but MTV News will be camped out on the carpet for a full three hours before the festivities kick off and we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for all the outrageous looks and fashions. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/10-shocking-grammy-red-carpet-moments/1678986/6893746/photo.jhtml" target="_blank"><b><big>Click for photos of our most-shocking Grammy red carpet moments!</b></big></a> In the meantime, we thought it was worth a look back at some of the legendary entrances from Grammys past: </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1678854" width="240" height="211"></div><p> <B>Lady Gaga egg</B>: Sure, Justin Bieber toted his pet snake to last year's show, but it was, of course, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> who turned the most heads by getting carried down the carpet in a <a href="/news/articles/1657833/lady-gaga-grammy-arrival-egg.jhtml">giant, see-through egg</a> that she incubated in before emerging later in the night for her performance of "Born This Way." <B>Britney gets bodied</B>: Britney Spears has long prided herself on wearing what she wants, when she wants. But someone should have pulled her aside in 2010 before she exited the car in an oddball Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit overlaid with a lace dress that turned heads for all the wrong reasons. <B>M.I.A.'s pregnancy chic</B>: With her <a href="/news/articles/1678599/mia-super-bowl-halftime-middle-finger.jhtml">middle finger</a> firmly tucked into place, the rapper/singer made her way into the <a href="/news/articles/1604583/mia-talks-baby-slumdog-at-grammys.jhtml">2009 show while nine-months pregnant</a> in a cartoony, ruffled blue maternity dress and matching sneakers. <B>Coldplay play dress up</B>: It was kind of cool when Coldplay stuck with their bold Sgt. Pepper's-style suits for the whole <I>Viva La Vida</I> tour. But when they wore them to the <a href="/news/articles/1604580/lil-wayne-coldplay-win-big-at-grammys.jhtml">2009 show</a>, it just felt ... silly. <B>OK Go ... back to the drawing board</B>: Viral icons OK Go are experts at drawing attention to their music with trippy, how-did-they-do-that videos. They drew mostly sniggers, though, when they donned matching brocade curtain-looking red-and-gold suits to the 2007 show. Their smartest move may have been to cover their faces with red cloth. <B>R. Kelly, man of mystery</B>: Kels has made a career out of being inscrutable , but his bold sartorial choice at the 2004 Grammys was, well, weird. From the neck down he wore an elegant three-button black suit and tie, but the matching Robin mask? Who knows? <B>Alicia Keys gets funky</B>: Nobody really knows what Keys was thinking in 2002 when she walked the carpet wearing embroidered jeans, sandals, a white tank and a sheer green sari-like shift with a built in, bedazzled headdress. <B>Toni Braxton lets it all hang out</B>: Sometimes it's what you <I>don't</I> wear that gets attention. In 2001, singer Braxton sported a barely-there white "dress" that hardly covered her assets with strips of material that dangled in the front and back. <B>Jennifer Lopez's plunging neckline</B>: Way before she was an "American Idol" judge, Lopez sent hearts racing in 2000 with her instantly infamous plunging neckline Versace gown. <b>Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Don't miss our <a href="/news/articles/1678706/grammy-awards-red-carpet-live-stream.jhtml">Grammy red-carpet live stream</a> this Sunday, February 12, for a full three hours of mayhem, starting at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.com. Besides facing the normal challenges of the summer box office, "Battleship" has a cast full of young actors, like Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker and pop superstar Rihanna trying to prove their skills in a big-budget movie.
In the case of Rihanna, many skeptics turned their nose up at the idea of the singer making the crossover to acting, but her director on "Battleship," Peter Berg, told MTV News at New York's Toy Fair that she was a natural. "She was great," he said. "She has a very strong part."
Berg insisted that Rihanna's casting was not as unorthodox as many may have thought, citing a whole host of singers who act. He has even had personal experience helping performers make the transition.
"I've always believed in musicians as actors. I had great success with Tim McGraw in 'Friday Night Lights' and 'The Kingdom.' Musicians have been acting since Frank Sinatra won an Oscar for 'From Here to Eternity,' " Berg said. "Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, the late Whitney Houston, I thought, was tremendous in 'The Bodyguard.' As recently as Mariah Carey in 'Precious,' she was great."
The director thought it was only a matter of time before someone cast Rihanna in a film; he just wanted to be first. "I was surprised no one had ever thought to hire Rihanna," he said. "I was a huge fan of her videos. Obviously she's sexy, but she had this real intensity. I'm like, 'Someone's going to get her.' "
When Berg initially met with Rihanna to talk about "Battleship," it was her attitude that made a lasting impression on him.
"When I met with her, she came in a T-shirt and jeans, no makeup, very natural," he said. "She was like, 'Look, I want to be an actress. Don't kiss my ass. Don't lie to me. Push me. Treat me as you would any other actor. Help make me good.' She is really, really good in 'Battleship.' "
Check out everything we've got on "Battleship."

'She is really, really good in 'Battleship,' ' director Peter Berg tells MTV News.

'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' seems to be the front-runner thanks to its stunning CG and motion-captured primates.
By Eric Ditzian
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes"
Photo: 20th Century FOX
Were this a sane world where Oscar voters paid the smallest shred of attention to populist popcorn flicks that happen to be — in addition to mega-bucks-grossing juggernauts — freaking great movies, then the Best Picture nominees might look a little more like the Best Visual Effects ones (and less like this year's top-prize picks currently going unwatched in theaters across the country).
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" isn't just the biggest movie of 2011 ($1.3 billion in box-office receipts) but the finest installment of that venerable franchise. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is, in a word, so totally amazingly oh-my-lord awesome. Is that more than one word? Too bad, because "Apes" looked great, spun a heartbreaking character tale in the middle of a sci-fi thriller, and gave Andy Serkis, as the motion-captured central simian, the opportunity for one of the most affecting performances of the year. "Hugo" was pretty great too — and at least Martin Scorsese's film, alone among the Visual Effects nominees, also nabbed a Best Picture nod. And while we won't go so far as to say "Real Steel" and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" are excellent films, they're both certainly fun (something we can't say about Best Picture honoree "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close").
The Visual Effects category, then, represents a sort of guide to some of the year's great geeky movies. Here are our predictions for this category in 2012:
Who Will Win: "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and the visual-effects whizzes at Weta Digital (the folks behind "Avatar") have this category wrapped up. Their motion-captured apes were not only leaps and bounds more compelling than the mask-wearing creatures in past "Ape" films, but they were the year's most stunning CG creations. Weta was so successful at grafting an ape's body and facial features onto Serkis' figure that you simply forgot you were watching a human actor. In any other year, "Hugo" would be well positioned to take this category. And the hour-long battle sequence at the end of Michael Bay's "Transformers" was a staggering achievement. But this is no ordinary year. "Apes" for the win.
Who Should Win: Yeah, "Apes" for the win. It's all too seldom the case that the most deserving nominee actually wins a category. Not so at this year's ceremony. Our only beef is that in addition to topping this category, Serkis didn't get any love in the best supporting actor category. There remains a reluctance on the part of awards-season insiders to honor an actor if his performance comes wrapped in pixels. One day, no doubt, that will change. And when that happens, perhaps we'll all look back at Serkis' turn as rebel leader Caesar and agree it was one of the best of 2011.
Leave your predictions for Best Visual Effects in the comments section.

The display for "The Avengers" at New York's Toy Fair
Photo: MTV News
NEW YORK — Covering film, television and comic books in the geek-space comes with its fair share of perks. Free screenings, interviews with the stars — it's not a bad life. But of everything, there's nothing that reverts a professional nerd to their 12-year-old fanboy self quite like a trip to Toy Fair, the New York-based festival featuring more action figures, accessories and board games than any reasonable person could ever need.
I suppose that I am not a reasonable person, then, because I found myself craving nearly every toy I saw featured at Hasbro's showroom in the basement of Manhattan's TimesCenter. It doesn't hurt that Hasbro is responsible for the collectibles behind some of 2012's most anticipated flicks, of course: "Avengers," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Battleship" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" are among the movies Hasbro is connected to, and we saw a whole bunch of movie-related goodies as a result.
You can preview the toys for yourself in the video below, and keep reading for some of our favorites.
» Earth's Mightiest Heroes are flying your way this summer, and they're flying in style. Hasbro's upcoming "Avengers" S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier is a breathtaking vehicle to behold, big enough to fit the full action-figure lineup with plenty of space left over. There's even enough room for a Quinjet to land, which itself is not of inconsiderable size.
» In other "Avengers" awesomeness, the role-playing items are where it's at in 2012. Those foam Hulk hands you've had for years are out of date by now, so why not upgrade your equipment with a pair of the Jade Giant's "Avengers" modeled mitts? Even better, Hawkeye finally proves his usefulness to the "Avengers" roster with a Nerf bow that's bound to drive your enemies nuts — and by enemies, I mean your roommates.
» Captain America and the gang aren't keeping all the fun to themselves. Spider-Man was right there with them at Toy Fair, featuring all sorts of web-slinging action of all shapes and sizes. It's really better to see these toys in action than to read about them, so click our video and see what Hasbro's cooking up for your friendly neighborhood toy-collecting needs.
» "Battleship" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" are two of the other big movie-related toy lines coming up from Hasbro. With the former, a new version of the classic board game is on its way that allows players to control an alien armada for the first time in the franchise's history. With "Retaliation," the accuracy between the forthcoming action figures and their flesh-and-blood actor counterparts is so stunning that it even caused actors D.J. Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki to take pause at the likeness. Needless to say, my bookshelf is going to be filled with seven different versions of Dwayne Johnson's Roadblock before 2012 is over.

Flying with first class fashion, Eva Longoria was spotted arriving on a flight in New York City on Friday night (February 17).
The "Desperate Housewives" actress stepped off a plane at the JFK Airport wearing a white coat over a white mini dress paired with tall boots and knee-high socks.
Looking lovely as ever, the 36 year old seemed unfazed by news that her ex, San Antonio Spurs player Tony Parker, has another brunette by his side.
The professional basketball star was spotted shopping in New York's SoHo for jeans with a woman identified only as "Axelle".
She is the first woman Parker has seriously dated since Eva Longoria filed for divorce in November 2010 after discovering Parker had been exchanging hundreds of texts with Erin Barry, the estranged wife of former Spur Brent Barry for almost a year.
Meanwhile, Miss Longoria is still seeing Penelope Cruz's brother Eduardo, who she was recently seen smooching on Loren Ridinger's yacht.
Maybe just as exciting, the Latino bombshell was recently named Co-Chair of United Farm Worker's 50th Anniversary.

Robert Pattinson appeared at the Berlin International Film Festival on Friday (February 17) to promote his latest effort, the big-screen adaptation of the Guy de Maupassant novel "Bel Ami." During the press conference, the actor opened up about making the film, which follows a manipulative young man who romances various women in 19th-century Paris.
"To work as a journalist? It's funny. I kind of like the idea, especially when he gets into the gossip section of the newspaper," the actor said about his character's job in the flick and how he related it to his own headline-making life.
Click for photos of Robert Pattinson at the "Bel Ami" event in Berlin.
"Something that was written in ... 1885, for it to be the exact same situation as it is now, where you have a template article and you just replace the name and it could be about anybody, I thought that was really funny. But he's not really a journalist. ... It's basically like being a reality TV star now," he said. "It was one of the jobs where you could kind of [get ahead]; he found a loophole in life where he could get money and a reputation by basically doing nothing. It was fun; it was interesting."
As for the film, Pattinson said that he agreed to do it because he thought he might never get the chance to play a character like that again. "It's funny, the structure of 'Bel Ami' and the character of Georges really rarely comes up in movies anymore because he's completely unrepentant, and normally a movie has to teach somebody a lesson nowadays. It was quite fun playing that," he said. "They both have their good sides."
He added that when he first read the script, he related to Georges' motivations. "I read the script a long time ago. I was pretty young. I think I've changed a little bit," the actor said. "I kind of understood that. You create an empire just so you can sh-- on someone else. I think I've grown up a little bit. I'm not as horrible."
The film is much different in tone than "Twilight," and Pattinson addressed any concerns he might have about bringing that audience along to this film, which opens in March.
"I guess my responsibility, I think, it's not necessarily to give anything back other than try and do the best work you can. You get an audience for doing certain jobs, so I think the biggest disservice you can do to your audience is trying to repeat the same thing and to come just to get money or whatever," he said. "If a 'Twilight' audience would come watch 'Bel Ami,' it's a movie that I wouldn't have thought that audience would go to, so I think that in some way, it's kind of doing a service to someone. I felt like I learned a lot from it."
Pattinson spoke about balancing smaller films with big ones like "Twilight." "Having blockbusters in your life is never a bad thing," he said. "When you're making it, if everyone is expecting it to be a blockbuster, it's kind of lame."

First trailer for Benjamin Walker-starring action flick shows undead villains, Abe wielding his trusty ax and an exploding tree.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Benjamin Walker in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"
Photo: Tim Burton Productions
You might think you know the story of Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president, but a new movie coming out this summer intends to tell you a slightly different story.
"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" reveals the untold story of honest Abe's nighttime hobby: vampire slaying. The first trailer for the film, starring Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, has arrived online. For your first look at the action hero behind the historical hero, here are the five key scenes from the :
Vampires
What's a presidential vampire hunter without undead foes to slay? The trailer gives us a look at the creature we're sure to see more of in the final film. These are the monsters that are responsible for the death of young Abraham's family and the creatures he must kill with extreme prejudice. The vampires Abe will battle appear agile and deadly, and would make a worthy foe for any historical figure looking to rid the world of the blood-sucking undead.
Ax fu
When MTV News spoke with Benjamin Walker for Ones to Watch 2012, he talked briefly about the signature brand of martial arts he used in the film. It's an entirely new style made for the film that incorporates Lincoln's favorite weapon for dispatching vampire: his trusty ax. In the trailer, Walker twirls his ax similar to a bow staff and teases the kind of carnage we will see when the film finally comes out.
Honest Abe
If you haven't already checked out MTV News' visit to the New Orleans set of "Vampire Hunter," click here now — Walker is unrecognizable. In the movie, the actor plays our 16th president throughout the entire span of his life, so the Abe of the $5 bill only appears toward the end of the film and just for a second in the trailer.
Train
If you think this will be a one-note gimmick movie, you haven't seen the clips from the epic set-piece featured in the trailer. At some point during the film, Lincoln fights the undead on top of a train riding on a burning bridge. Make no mistake: This is a serious action movie from the director of "Wanted," and the action reflects that. Abe fights, ax in hand, in super slow-mo. So not only will this film have Abraham Lincoln and vampires, but also killer action scenes.
Tree
The moment that earned the biggest reaction when the preview screened for journalists, and will likely be the most-discussed scene, comes at the very end of the trailer. During his training to become a vampire hunter, Lincoln learns to focus his energy into the strength he needs to defeat the undead. Having finally learned how, Abe takes one giant swing of his ax at the trunk of a tree, and it explodes. Literally.
Check out everything we've got on "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."

Late singer/actress' work in movies was inextricably linked to her music.

The late Whitney Houston may have only appeared in front of the camera in four feature films during her lifetime, but when a soundtrack featured the singer, best-selling albums and awards followed in her wake.
Houston's soundtrack contribution became synonymous with chart-topping albums, some among the best-selling of all time, so in her memory, we're taking a look back at some of her most significant musical efforts in film and the records she broke in the process.
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody" on the "13 Going on 30" Soundtrack
Almost 20 years after its initial release, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" was re-released as part of the soundtrack for the 2004 Jennifer Garner film "13 Going on 30." The album was made up mostly of the biggest hits of the late '80s, including Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Madonna's "Crazy for You." The soundtrack did not earn the awards or prestige of Houston's other credits, but the song's re-release brought it to a younger generation and reaffirmed its rightful place alongside the decade's most influential singles.
"Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" from "Waiting to Exhale"
Houston's second starring role resulted in another big soundtrack hit. The lead single from the album, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," sold more than 1 million copies and went platinum. The song earned four nominations at the 1997 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year, and walked away with Best R&B Song. Written by Babyface, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" was just one of the many successful collaborations Houston would have with the famous producer.
"The Preacher's Wife" Soundtrack
Houston's last major film appearance before her death also brought about a record-breaking release for the artist. Houston performed all the songs on the soundtrack for "The Preacher's Wife," in which she starred opposite Academy Award winner Denzel Washington. The album itself went on to sell an estimated 6 million copies and became the best-selling gospel album of all time.
"When You Believe" from "The Prince of Egypt"
As one half of a duo that's sure to go down in R&B history, Houston performed "When You Believe" off of the "Prince of Egypt" soundtrack with Mariah Carey. The song only found moderate success on the Billboard charts, but the biggest honor came Oscar night, when the writer of "When You Believe," Stephen Schwartz, took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song in March 1999. Houston and Carey performed at the awards shortly before winning the honor.
"The Bodyguard" Soundtrack
Houston's greatest musical contribution to film is also the album she'll be most remembered for. The soundtrack for the 1992 film "The Bodyguard," co-starring Kevin Costner, surpassed all expectations of motion-picture soundtracks up until that time and became one of the best-selling albums in history. Ranking fourth in sales, only behind Michael Jackson's Thriller, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and AC/DC's Back in Black, the soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" also took home the Grammy for Album of the Year. The most recognizable song of Houston's career, a cover of Dolly Parton's song "I Will Always Love You," was the first of three singles from the album to break the Billboard top 20. Houston was the first female artist to have three songs on the list at the same time.
MTV News' Sway and James Montgomery will be live from the Grammys red carpet tonight starting at 5 p.m. ET to get reactions from music's biggest stars on the death of Whitney Houston. Watch reactions and remembrances at MTV.com.

<P>Even a dozen years removed from the White House, former president <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/clinton_bill/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Bill Clinton</a> still has that same superstar-attracting aura. That might explain why such bright lights as <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Lady Gaga</a>, Bono and The Edge of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/u2/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">U2</a>, and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Usher</a> have signed on to perform at an October 15 party for <a href="http://www.clintonconcert.com/" target="_blank">Clinton</a> at the Hollywood Bowl. According to <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/u2-lady-gaga-usher-headline-234222" target="_blank"><i>The Hollywood Reporter</a>,</i> details on the final list of performers and presenters are still being worked on, but an impressive list of movie and TV personalities are expected to sign on for the event, which is being billed as a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Clinton's nonprofit William J. Clinton Foundation. To date, the foundation has raised more than $10 billion for some of the ex-president's most cherished causes, including HIV/AIDS treatment, economic empowerment, food aid and global health initiatives. The show, which will also serve as a birthday party celebration for the former Democratic leader (who turned 65 on August 19), will be broadcast exclusively by Yahoo, which will stream "A Decade of Difference: A Concert Celebrating 10 Years of the William J. Clinton Foundation" worldwide to a potential audience of millions. Clinton continues to travel the world doing good works, though he turned his attention homeward over the weekend when he participated in the 10th anniversary ceremonies of the September 11 terror attacks. He announced on Sunday that he will team with Republican House Speaker John Boehner in a bipartisan effort to raise the final $10 million needed to complete the Fight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.</p>

Benjamin Walker and director Timur Bekmambetov tell MTV News about 3-D flick: 'It was really refreshing to see something so new.'
By Kevin P. Sullivan

When you think of our 16th president, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn't vampires, but the new film "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" hopes to change that.
MTV News spoke with star Benjamin Walker and director Timur Bekmambetov at an event for the movie at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois, the former leader's hometown.
After screening the first trailer, plus some additional scenes, and taking a few questions from the audience, Walker and Bekmambetov sat down with MTV News to talk Lincoln and portraying his secret history as a killer of the undead.
Walker made a name for himself on Broadway playing a different president in "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson." His first major starring role, "Vampire Hunter" may seem like an odd choice, but Walker's first question about the part had nothing to do with the former president or vampires. "My initial reaction was, 'Who's directing it?' " Walker said. "Then as soon as somebody said Timur, I was relaxed about it. It's in good hands."
The flick also marks Walker's debut as an action hero, a far cry from his days onstage. To the actor, though, the transition wasn't too difficult, thanks to his director. "The way that Timur works, it's all the same thing," he explained. "The process is different, but they're the same muscles, the creation of another human being. It's the same thing, whether you're shooting it on a lens or you're doing it live in front of people.
"The way that Timur works, it's so visceral, it feels like you're doing it in front of a live audience," he continued. "The movie's going to be in 3-D. It's going to be like you're really there."
Of course, the premise raised some questions for the star, and Walker admitted there was definitely some intrigue. "I was curious, certainly. I didn't find it off-putting," he said. "You go to the movies today, and you're watching reboots and sequels and comics and toys. Frankly, it was really refreshing to see something so new and so far out there. I just was curious."
Bekmambetov is no stranger to horror or over-the-top action. The Russian supernatural thrillers "Night Watch" and "Day Watch" established the director as someone worth paying attention to, and "Wanted" marked his crossover to the American mainstream.
With "Vampire Hunter," the challenge of striking just the right chord attracted the director. "I was involved in a journey to deal with a real historical figure, with an icon, with a monument, and to try to balance tonally the genre and the real, almost sacred, figure," Bekmambetov explained. "It was difficult."
The film might have been a challenge to make, but according to Walker, the bizarre premise is one that shouldn't be too difficult for audiences to swallow. "He's someone we already recognize as an American hero. Now, we get to see him as an action hero. What's better than that?" he said.
Having completely rewritten the story of Lincoln is sure to leave a lasting impression on both Walker and Bekmambetov, who joked that he will no longer look at a $5 bill the same way: "Now, it's a symbol of the vampire hunting."
Check out everything we've got on "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."

I've been watching a lot of HGTV since coming to LA. My favorite shows are House Hunters and House Hunters International. There's also another show I like to watch called For Rent, but only because it makes me angry.
When it comes to apartments/homes, I think living in New York for the past eleven years has made me bitter because there was this whiny broad on For Rent a few nights ago who was looking at a huge place—A HUGE PLACE—and was like, "There's no place for a dining room table..."
B*TCH, YOU'RE LUCKY TO GET A KITCHEN IN NEW YORK.
I hated her.
Now there's some stupid lady on House Hunters who wants a townhouse with a fireplace that she can turn on with a light switch. IT HAS TO BE A LIGHT SWITCH because she doesn't want to bend down and flip a switch on the floor.
WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?
Anyway, I know my LA update is WAY overdue (and truth be told I wrote a long one last week but for some reason it didn't save so I lost the whole thing and I was so angry that I just said, "Ah, f*ck it," and closed the computer instead of rewriting) but to give you a quick update, I AM SO HAPPY HERE. I MEAN, I'M REALLY, REALLY HAPPY. And I think living here and watching HGTV—both of these things combined—has made me realize that New York was just beating me down. I mean, the fireplace lady—yes, she's an idiot. But there's nothing wrong with wanting a dining room table. Why did I get so mad at that lady?
Since being here, at least once a day I ask myself why I have lived in New York for so long. (It's like I had Stockholm Syndrome or something.) CALIFORNIA IS AWESOME. It's like the promised land. It's sunny all the time and there are birds and flowers everywhere. I have space out here. I have a sofa on the patio out here. I HAVE A SOFA OUTSIDE. I haven't seen one rat since I've been here. But hummingbirds? THEY ZIP BY MY HEAD EVERY DAY. I am so happy.
I'm supposed to go back to New York in November, but truth be told, I'm not sure I will.
On Friday night, the world got its first glimpse of Beyonce and Jay-Z's baby, Blue Ivy Carter. "Still glowing!" she <a href="http://twitter.com/britneyspears" target="_blank">wrote</a>. "About to jump on a plane to Planet Hollywood in Vegas. Throwing a Bday Party for Jason at Chateau Night Club. So fun. Xxoo. And celebrate they did. <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20554744,00.html" target="_blank">People.com</a> reported that the couple and her two sons checked into Planet Hollywood before making their first public appearance since the news broke. Spears rocked not only a body-hugging Hervé Léger bandage dress, but also her Neil Lane engagement ring. The couple shared dinner and dancing at two Sin City hotspots, Sugar Factory's Chocolate Lounge and Paris' Chateau Nightclub. "Tonight was one of the most magical nights of my life," she later wrote on Twitter. "Such an amazing time with my new fiance and our closest friends and family. #Blessed" While Spears was celebrating, her ex-husband Kevin Federline sent out his well-wishes. "She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place. It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her." And Federline doesn't seem to have any hard feelings toward Trawick. "He's a really good guy, I've heard a lot about him," he added. "I've spoken to him quite a few times as of now. He seems like a really good guy. The news of Whitney Houston's death Saturday has left those who loved her reeling, with a multitude of celebrity fans and friends expressing their grief publicly.
Houston's untimely passing on the eve of the Grammy Awards has shocked everyone, nearly extinguishing the normally festive atmosphere in Los Angeles surrounding the music industry's biggest night. While fans will unfortunately not have the opportunity to see her sing live again, Houston's legacy will live on via her final film, "Sparkle," which is scheduled to be released by Sony in August as planned.
A rep for the studio expressed deep sympathy for the loss of the icon to MTV News.
"Like all those who knew and loved her, we are shocked and saddened and the world has lost an incomparable talent. Right now our thoughts are with her daughter, her family and her friends."
The film's producer, Bishop T.D Jakes, also expressed his sadness upon hearing the news:
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic and untimely passing of Whitney Houston, whom we were blessed to have just completed work with on the remake of the film 'Sparkle.' We ask the world to join us in lifting up Whitney's family in prayer and ask God for their strength and comfort during this devastatingly difficult time," Bishop wrote in a statement. "At the apex of her career, Whitney had no peer, with a voice that shaped a generation. She has left behind a musical and film legacy that will endure. ... She will be sorely missed by us all."
Remembering Whitney Houston's Screen Legacy
"Sparkle" is a remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film about three talented young musicians who struggle with addiction. The 2012 version features "American Idol" alum Jordin Sparks as the titular character Sparkle and Houston, who also served as executive producer after having acquired the rights to the film more than a decade ago, as her mother, Emma.
Houston's co-producer on the project, Howard Rosenman, told the Los Angeles Times he was in total shock upon hearing the news.
"I have no idea about the impact [of Houston's death] on 'Sparkle,' which I saw last night," he told the newspaper of screening a rough cut of the recently wrapped film. "[Houston] was unbelievably fantastic in it."
"Sparkle" was Houston's first movie in 16 years, since her performance alongside Denzel Washington in the 1996 holiday feel-good film "The Preacher's Wife." Her most memorable and celebrated role was in the 1992 romantic drama "The Bodyguard."
Loretta Devine, Houston's costar from "Waiting To Exhale" told MTV News that she looked forward to taking to the big screen with Houston again. "I am overwhelmed. I cannot wrap my mind around this. I missed the chance to see her at a party this past Thursday and when we spoke last she had just finished "Sparkle" and she told me how excited she was to start production on "Waiting To Exhale 2." My prayers go out to her family and I am so honored for the time I spent working with her."
Share your condolences with Whitney's family and friends on our Facebook page.

Amid rumors that Spears will appear on Madge's 'Girls Gone Wild,' MTV News looks back at their history together.

<P>Could it be that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/madonna/artist.jhtml">Madonna</a> has enlisted her pal <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> for <a href="/news/articles/1678197/madonna-mdna-album.jhtml"><i>MDNA</i></a>? </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:623135.id:1657989" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Well, according to a leaked album jacket, it seems that Spears is making an appearance on the album's lead track, "Girls Gone Wild." This would mark the second collaboration on the album. Madonna nabbed Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. for the album's first single, <a href="/news/articles/1678478/madonna-give-me-all-your-luvin-video.jhtml">"Give Me All Your Luvin'."</a> While the leaked jacket, which appeared on Britney fansite <a href="http://www.breatheheavy.com/2012/02/britney-on-new-madonna-album/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed" target="_blank">Breatheheavy.com</a>, can't be confirmed as authentic, a rep for Madge had no comment about the rumor, neither confirming nor denying it. Meanwhile, a rep for Spears never returned MTV News' request for comment. This is hardly the first time that the two ladies have worked together. In fact, they have quite a history with each other. The duo kicked off their nearly decade-long friendship at the 2003 VMAs when, in case you hadn't heard, they <a href="/news/articles/1669706/britney-spears-mtv-vma-history.jhtml">shared an onstage kiss</a> while performing together. It was the kiss seen and heard around the world, and nearly 10 years later it is still often talked about as one of the most memorable moments in the show's storied history. After they shared that smooch, Spears was inspired to get the Queen of Pop on her lead <i>In the Zone</i> single, <a href="/news/articles/1658075/britney-spears-me-against-the-music.jhtml">"Me Against the Music."</a> "I was in the middle of rehearsals for the VMAs and I played her the song, and she was like, 'That's your first single, right?' " Britney recalled in a vintage interview with MTV. "I was like, 'Yeah, hopefully.' She was like, 'I really like it.' I was like, 'Really?' I was like, 'Well, you wanna do it with me?' She said, 'Yeah.' " They later appeared together in the warehouse-set video with one another, playing a pop star cat-and-mouse game that featured a near kiss. Five years later, as Spears was prepping her return to the pop spotlight, she appeared <a href="/news/articles/1598804/britney-spears-justin-timberlake-appear-onstage-with-madonna.jhtml">onstage with Madonna</a> during a Sticky & Sweet Tour stop at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The singer hit the stage with the pop icon to perform "Human Nature" by her side. That same year, Madonna appeared in <a href="/news/articles/1600361/britney-spears-talks-breakups-breakdowns-in-for-the-record.jhtml">Spears' documentary, "For the Record,"</a> where she spoke about the younger singer. "I admire her as an artist," the Material Girl said, adding that she sees a lot of herself in Spears. In 2011, as Spears was prepping the release of her album <i>Femme Fatale,</i> in an <a href="/news/articles/1659522/britney-spears-plastic-surgery-out-magazine.jhtml">interview with <i>Out</i> magazine</a>, she noted that she truly admires her friend. "Madonna. No question. She is an amazing entertainer," she said when asked whose career she most would want to emulate. As Madonna preps the release of <i>MDNA</i> in March, Spears is also the topic of conversation in a recent interview with her. When asked by ABC News what it was like to smooch the pop princess, she commented, "Nice moment, good kisser. Cool," she said, clarifying that she wouldn't do it again. "No, I already did it. I don't like to repeat myself." Well, perhaps a kiss would be "reductive" (her word, not ours), but it seems given the love that Madge and Spears fans have for the two pop stars, they wouldn't mind them cooking up some musical magic. The track, "Girls Gone Wild," was teased in a megamix that dropped last week and it certainly feels like it would lend itself to both Madonna and Brit's musical sensibilities: It's fist-pumpingly dance-y, sexy and all about going out and having a good time, with Madge proclaiming, "Girls, they just want to have some fun/ Get fired up like a smoking gun/ On the floor till the daylight comes/ Girls, they just want to have some fun." <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:728690/cp~id%3D1672718%26vid%3D728690%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A728690%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> <i>What would you think of a new Britney Spears/ Madonna collabo? <P>Some artists, like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, release albums that are pure <a href="/news/articles/1678825/grammy-2012-album-of-year-adele-profile.jhtml">Grammy catnip</a> thanks to instant-classic sounds that resonate with the Recording Academy's way-back contingent. Then there's Lady Gaga. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:717202" width="240" height="211"></div><p> She's been a bridesmaid twice for Album of the Year at the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammys</a>, losing out on her first two releases. But with her third bid on Sunday, for <a href="/news/articles/1664105/lady-gaga-born-this-way-stream.jhtml"><i>Born This Way,</i></a> Gaga appears to have made the kind of career-defining, big-idea album that Grammy voters could not deny. It had all the things the Academy loves in an Album of the Year nominee: ambition, deeply personal tracks that provide a glimpse at the artist's psyche, bold musical explorations, strong sales and chance to prove that they're hip enough to get what the kids are listening to. (Or, in some cases, a new album by Steely Dan.) And, indeed, BTW <i>did</i> have it all, from the jackhammer electronica of "Marry the Night" to the tango-lite grooves of "Americano," the techno attack of "Heavy Metal Lover," hints of biography in "Hair," the lighter-raising ballads in "Yoü and I" and "The Edge of Glory" and, of course, the title track, which served as both a dance-floor phenomenon <i>and</i> an <a href="/news/articles/1657772/lady-gaga-born-this-way.jhtml">empowerment anthem</a> for the ages. The album, one of the most anticipated of 2011, not only <a href="/news/articles/1664888/lady-gaga-billboard.jhtml">crashed the charts</a> with stellar sales figures of more than one million in its first week, but it also managed to once again bend the will of the music-buying public to meet her quirky, unpredictable muse. Gaga promised her fans that she was pouring everything she had into the disc and when it arrived, complete with a series of trippy, <a href="/news/articles/1663387/lady-gaga-judas-video.jhtml">provocative videos</a> that also pushed the envelope, they couldn't have asked for any more from their Mother Monster. Frequent musical collaborator producer Fernando Garibay said the recognition from the Recording Academy was a nice cherry-topper to a year of hard, hard work. "We worked on this album for so long and it was like our baby so it was more about if the fans would love it; that was the most important thing.," he told MTV News. "But of course, nominations, yeah, that's cool." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:732837.id:1678680" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The first full-length effort from Gaga since her rise to international stardom, <i>Born This Way</i> allowed the singer to exorcise some demons, comment on her newfound fame and, of course, create the kind of over-the-top tracks that would lend themselves to equally eye-popping live performance. "This album was the most personal, the amount of detail that went into this record, the amount of passion and emotion from her and the team," Garibay said. "We all followed her lead on this, on every song ... how intense every avenue of making this record was for us, protecting the record, creative, conceptually, every song was a story towards the <i>Born This Way</i> theme." The video for the title track took the Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. In a year in which she kept turning heads with ever-more-insane red carpet walks, Gaga fittingly raised the bar further at the show, where she performed and accepted the Female Video Moonman as her male <a href="/news/articles/1669863/lady-gaga-best-female-video-vmas.jhtml">alter ego, Jo Calderone</a>. In between those appearances, Gaga also managed to circle the globe with the Broadway-worthy <a href="/news/articles/1664768/lady-gaga-semi-precious-weapons-monster-ball.jhtml">Monster Ball Tour</a>, on which she brought the new songs to life every night in a spectacle that was the visual equal of her studio experiments. Though she worked with her core team, which includes Garibay, producer RedOne and DJ White Shadow, Gaga also opened the doors to collaborations with late Bruce Springsteen saxophonist Clarence Clemons and classic rock producer <a href="/news/articles/1669108/lady-gaga-you-and-i-music-video-premiere.jhtml">Robert "Mutt" Lange</a> and Queen guitarist Brian May, who helped give "Yoü and I" its epic, AM radio majesty. Gaga was so excited to record the album that she insisted on having a portable studio with her at all times to work on new music even as she toured the world for <i>The Fame Monster,</i> RedOne said. The road work paid off, as the album has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, spinning off a bevy of hits, including the title track, "Marry the Night," "Judas," "Yoü and I" and "The Edge of Glory." And though he's been there before, RedOne added that getting another nod for the biggest Grammy honor of all is new every time. "It's an amazing thing to be nominated for the biggest thing in music industry," he said. "It's always a big honor. I get happy and I never want to get used to it." <b>Chaos! Profanity! <P>Britney Spears spent the weekend celebrating her <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">engagement to Jason Trawick</a> in Las Vegas with friends and family. On Friday, hours after the news of their impending marriage was confirmed, the singer took to her Facebook page to make it official, changing her <a href="https://www.facebook.com/britney" target="_blank">relationship status</a> to "engaged." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> She also shared with her fans on Twitter just how excited she is to be tying the knot with longtime boyfriend Trawick. "I'm really happy for her — I think he's a great guy," he told <a href="http://tvweek.ninemsn.com.au/blog.aspx?blogentryid=963715&showcomments=true" target="_blank"><i>TV Week</i> magazine</a> while filming the reality show "Excess Baggage" in Australia. "She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place. I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here, both of us have been busy with her being on tour, but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good. It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her." And Federline doesn't seem to have any hard feelings toward Trawick. "He's a really good guy, I've heard a lot about him," he added. "I've spoken to him quite a few times as of now. He seems like a really good guy. The kids speak highly of him [and] her family loves him." <div style="background-color:#000000;width:428px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:702567/cp~id%3D1672881%26vid%3D702567%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A702567" width="420" height="236" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></div></div> <i>Share your well-wishes for Britney and Jason in the comments!</i></p>

Happy Tuesday to all our wonderful readers! Are you back to the grind after a weekend of Super Bowl festivities? Congrats to the New York Giants, a phenomenal win for Eli and Company. Anyways, in today’s edition of Celebrity Birthdays, George Clooney’s cousin, aka “Dr. Garret Macy” turns 57 today, “Steff” (think John Hughes 80′s classic teen films) is 52 and Napoleon Dynamite’s friend Deb turns 27. Guess who? Happy Birthday, Ashton Kutcher! The “Two and a Half Men” star is 34 years old today. It’s been quite a year for the former “That 70′s Show” actor. He signed on to the hugely popular CBS comedy to replace Charlie Sheen and in September, his private life was splattered all over the tabloids after he allegedly had a fling with Sara Leal in San Diego and she came forward with the deets. Ironically, the hook up took place during the weekend of his and wife Demi’s wedding anniversary. After weeks of speculation, Demi announced that she was divorcing Ashton after six years of marriage. Sadly, the stress of recent events led to Demi being rushed to the hospital two weeks ago and she now is in rehab. Ashton reportedly had seen [...]

"He has very specific ideas of where he wants to go musically and sound-wise." Given that Usher has never shied away from exposing a bit of himself in his music, while also keeping the party going, Cruz wants to make sure they can connect the mind, body and soul for this next release. "He always wants there to be the soul in there," he explained. "I'm kind of, not the opposite, but I'm always like, 'Let's get straight to the point and be really clear with the message and be simple.' "So we try to match those two worlds together: being soulful and, at the same time, catchy," he added. Cruz can't yet discuss what they're working on: Besides "Without You," he said, "Everything else is secret." Usher said he was drawn to the <a href="/news/articles/1674782/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">Guetta hit</a> because he connected to it emotionally, explaining to MTV News recently what an important part that plays in his musical philosophy. "I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I've actually been on in the last three years," he said. "Traveling all around the world, music sounds different. I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:
(Sit down, stop jumping around, it's an awesome picture, I know. And the quality is amazing. It's not grainy or reddish... it's perfect.) (No, it's not.)
(And you can totally see the Captain America logo on the side of the glasses.) (No, you can't.)
Anyway, Captain America is pulling a strong 71% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now so GO SEE IT! IT'S FANTASTIC!

How did the film do so much with so little? Simon Hansen tells MTV News.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

This weekend, the teenage superheroes of "Chronicle" edged out Harry Potter himself at the box office with their amazing abilities. Made on a relatively tight budget of $12 million, the found-footage superhero movie made almost twice its budget back in domestic ticket sales alone.
Part of the reason for the success, no doubt, was due to the work of visual-effects supervisor Simon Hansen and his team in South Africa. They created all the usual sights of a superhero flick but with a fraction of the budget.
MTV News spoke with Hansen to find out how he did so much with so little. (There are minor spoilers ahead.)
MTV: Where does work begin when trying to tackle something like "Chronicle" on such a low budget?
Simon Hansen: That was obviously the challenge of the film and one of the reasons that I was keen to get involved with the project from the beginning. I get to play with commercially viable films that are also cost-effective to make. Having read the script, it was a small film. It's supposed to be low-budget, relatively. I started making notes when we read the script, noting down all the effects. By the time I got to the third act, I put my pen down because it got so hectic that making notes at that point was a bit of a waste of time. There was clearly a hell of a lot more work that needed to be done. From that point of view, it was a really big film for a low budget, and that was what excited me and what excited everyone on the project. This was the little film that we were going to push further than smaller films normally go.
MTV: What's your approach for doing what the big-budget movies do but with a fraction of the money?
Hansen: My background was actually pursuing that as a goal from a very early age in the industry, trying to make things that looked great but didn't cost a lot. It wasn't a new idea from that point of view. It wasn't daunting or hindering; it was actually the most exhilarating part of the process. The superhero genre is a good comparison, which I think has too much money. Having these large budgets is removing the innovation from the project. Capping the budget is a way to force that ingenuity and innovation into the project, which I think does come across. I think "Chronicle" has that feel of being a higher-budget film than it is, but it always has a kind of edginess to it at the same time.
MTV: Was there a question of "Can we do everything that's in the script?"
Hansen: Yes, the first question is, "Read the script and tell us how much of it we can do and what you think we can't do." My pitch that [producer] Adam [Schroeder] and [director] Josh [Trank] bought on "Chronicle" was that the first thing I was going to try to do was reduce the number of visual-effects shots in the film, because even though my background is visual effects, I like to think of myself as a filmmaker first. I'm not in love with CGI for its own sake. I'd rather do things in camera, and I think most directors would. I think audiences really appreciate the grittiness and edginess of stuff that's real. If you're forced to do CGI, try to do it in a way that's really minimalist, where most of what you're doing is real.
MTV: What was the most challenging shot on the film?
Hansen: The most important and the one I considered the biggest challenge was any kind of flying. What ended up happening was we ended up designing brand-new rigs to actually make people fly that worked out really well. It's probably my favorite part of the process. It's weird in effects how some shots start out one way and they don't seem that difficult, and they end up being really difficult. The most difficult sequence was where Andrew beats up the thugs and tosses them around the street because we had to shoot that all in one day and all those different people were on wires and rigs. We had to do it in different parts and put it all together. You get tripped up by the sun moving during the day when you have to shoot it all in one day. The light's changing all the time, and you're shooting different elements together. For the level of complexity of that shot and the time we had to do it, that was definitely the most difficult.
MTV: How did you come up with the solution for making the characters fly?
Hansen: I'd been very frustrated, even with big-budget films and how they've done flying. Some of the bad examples, not to knock anyone, "Armageddon" 's weightless sequence, for example, was a movie that had a lot of money and didn't get it right. Lots of films don't get it right. I knew it wasn't necessarily about the budget. It was about the technique to get flying to work. I spent a lot of time analyzing footage of sky diving and looking how bodies move in free motion. As a result, I ended up designing a big hamster-wheel rig that the subject would be strapped to in the center and he could be spun within this rig, which could turn itself. You'd get two axes out of it. The actors called it the Wheel of Death because you actually get strapped into this thing and a motor spins you around while the wheel is actually turning. You can do full-on McTwist-type movements. What I tried to get away from was a situation where you pick someone up on wires and move them from one side of a soundstage to another in front of a green screen.
MTV: Was there anything you simply couldn't accomplish with the budget?
Hansen: I think we pretty much did just about everything that we wanted to in the script. There were some shots that didn't work out the way that we wanted them to, where we had to reshoot them or come up with another way to do them. The closest we came to cutting things — we didn't in the end — but the closest we came was not the kind of effect that you'd even be aware of. When Andrew films himself in the mirror and we're using a considerably larger camera than the one he's using, we needed to shoot with one camera and replace it and Andrew in the mirror with the smaller camera. Those turned out to be really difficult shots to plan and get right. No one will really pay them any attention. It's amazing how that always happens.

<P>Are you ready for another <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/ludacris/artist.jhtml">Ludacris</a> album? It's been two years since 'Cris dropped his last album, <i>Battle of the Sexes,</i> and the Atlanta MC estimates that his next one will hit stores this spring. "I get the beats together and I put out my ideas, so I'd say we're maybe about 40 percent done," the rapper told <a href="http://www.billboard.com/column/the-juice/ludacris-eyes-spring-ludaversal-release-1005831952.story#/column/the-juice/ludacris-eyes-spring-ludaversal-release-1005831952.story" target="_blank"><i>Billboard</i></a> of his upcoming eighth LP, <i>Ludaversal,</i> which he anticipates will be out around May with a first single dropping in March. Luda, who dropped his <a href="/news/articles/1674369/ludacris-1.21-gigawatts-mixtape.jhtml"><i>1.21 Gigawatts</i> mixtape</a> in November, also revealed one big-time guest on the LP. "<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> is one person that I've already worked with," he said. "In terms of other artists, you can say that there's going to be a lot of surprises on here." <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:711235/cp~id%3D1674412%26vid%3D711235%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A711235" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center> The pair already have a few collaborations under their belt. Who can forget Usher's inescapable smash "Yeah!" from his 2004 <i>Confessions</i> album? The two also hooked up on Lil Jon's "Lovers and Friends" in the same year and then again two years ago on Usher's "She Don't Know." As far as what the two have cooked up for <i>Ludaversal,</i> fans will just have to wait and see. Throughout his career, Luda has shown a ton of versatility. An undeniable hitmaker, at times the nimble-tongued lyricist has been comical (2001's "Area Codes" and 2004's "Number One Spot") and in other instances delivered healthy amounts of substance (2006's "Runaway Love" and 2008's "Do the Right Thing"). For <i>Ludaversal,</i> he will get a little personal. "It's been a minute since I've been away from music, and there is just so much to talk about," he said. "So [the album] is mostly about my personal life, my travels, my experiences, rumors, gossip — you know, everything coming together in one." <i>What are your expectations for Ludacris' new album? Supernatural is back on the air after a brief break. This latest episode featured Dean and a woman claiming he fathered her child. Read ?The Slice Girls? review below. Fans were most likely feeling pretty good for Dean in this latest hour when the ladies man decided to show his human side by spending some time with the opposite sex, and indulging in a little human connection, something were not used to seeing since the Lisa arc. He also seemed a little hurt after calling his one night fling the next day only to get the cold shoulder. With an average female this would have been unbelievable to viewers, but after the woman wakes up pregnant the next day its a sure sign that this isn’t like the days of Dean in the earlier seasons. Throughout the hour the Winchesters attempt to track down the woman and the cult of little girls she has been training to kill their own fathers, one of which is Dean. If anything the theme of this week’s episode was all about the older brother and strange enough, his humanity. Hard to pin down when this all came about, whether it be the loss of [...]

'Friday Night Lights' actor, set to break out in 'John Carter,' 'Battleship,' should have been featured more prominently.
By Kevin P. Sullivan
Taylor Kitsch in "John Carter"
Photo: Walt Disney Pictures
Millions of people around the world were introduced to Taylor Kitsch Sunday night. The Canadian actor found himself at the center of two of the Super Bowl's biggest movie ads for his first two starring roles, in "John Carter" and "Battleship," but the trailers may not have been the first impression Kitsch was hoping for.
Kitsch made a name for himself starring as the misunderstood bad boy Tim Riggins on the beloved but criminally under-watched NBC series "Friday Night Lights." Riggins grew dear to the show's viewers because of the charm and likability Kitsch brought to the character, despite a tough exterior. Throughout the show's run, it was never a stretch to imagine the actor making the crossover to big-budget action movies with his charisma as hard evidence of his bankability.
But for his Super Bowl debuts, the studios behind "John Carter" and "Battleship" took the focus off of their star and instead cut special-effects shots together, leaving Kitsch as little more than background noise.
The "John Carter" trailer that aired during the game handled its time the most curiously. Beginning with a shot of Kitsch from the film, the footage grew smaller, eventually becoming part of a large collection of footage that formed letters spelling out the title of the film. By the time most of the video appeared on the screen, it was too small to make any sense of it.
What many people may not have known was that an extended version of the commercial, one with full-sized footage from the film, appeared online shortly after. That trailer showed off Kitsch during action sequences instead of zooming away from him.
The ad for "Battleship" approached promoting a big-budget sci-fi movie in a more traditional way, albeit one that also put Kitsch in the background. The spot played more like a commercial for the other series of movies based on Hasbro toys, "Transformers," and the scattered nature of it might have left people wondering whether the film stars Kitsch, Liam Neeson or Rihanna.
Sure, these are just commercials, but if 2012 is going to be the year that Taylor Kitsch makes the crossover from TV heartthrob to viable action star, studios ought to realize who they're working with and put the man front and center.
Check out everything we've got on "John Carter" and "Battleship."

<P>There was a hot debate raging about 12 months ago when Lady Gaga dropped her song <a href="/news/articles/1657726/lady-gaga-born-this-way.jhtml">"Born This Way,"</a> with people questioning whether the song sounds too much like Madonna's 1980s hit "Express Yourself." As the discussion went viral, fans, critics and even Lady Gaga herself weighed in on it. Now, as Madge preps the release of her next album, <a href="/news/articles/1677103/madonna-album-mdna.jhtml"><i>M.D.N.A.</a>,</i> and her film "W.E.," she's <i>finally</i> weighing in on the controversy. Madonna, known for her curt, pithy responses when asked about anyone who might take a cue or two from her playbook, sat down with <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertainment/2012/01/madonna-breaks-silence-on-gaga-born-this-way-controversy-2020-exclusive-tonight/" target="_blank">ABC News</a> recently and had some choice words for pop's latest princess. "I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well-done," she explained of her <a href="/news/articles/1622985/lady-gaga-madonna-almost-kiss-on-saturday-night-live.jhtml">onetime "Saturday Night Live" co-star</a>. "When I heard ['Born This Way'] on the radio ... I said, 'that sounds very familiar' ... It felt reductive." <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:717952/cp~id%3D1672718%26vid%3D717952%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A717952%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> When asked if "reductive" was good or bad, Madonna replied, "Look it up." The Queen of Pop did call Gaga "a very talented artist" and explained that she thinks that she's making a "statement about taking something that was in the Zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it." Madonna also addressed her apparent penchant for kissing female pop stars. She recently made headlines when her <a href="/news/articles/1676052/madonna-gimme-all-your-luvin-single.jhtml">"Gimme All Your Luvin"</a> cohort Nicki Minaj tweeted that Madge had <a href="/news/articles/1675587/nicki-minaj-madonna-give-me-all-your-love.jhtml">kissed her</a> on the set of her video. In true Madonna fashion, she brushed it off, saying, "It was her birthday. I gave her a birthday kiss. No tongue!" Of course, Nicki is not the first pop star Madonna has locked lips with. Back in 2003, Madge shared kisses on the VMA stage with Britney Spears <i>and</i> Christina Aguilera. "Nice moment, good kisser. Cool," she <a href="http://idolator.com/6137151/madonna-nightline-interview-britney" target="_blank">remarked</a> of Spears. When asked if she would kiss Spears again, she replied, "No, I already did it. I don't like to repeat myself." For those who may have missed the "Nightline" interview on Thursday, it will air on Friday night (January 13) on "20/20." <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:686557/cp~id%3D1672718%26vid%3D686557%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A686557%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center></p>

<P>Deck the halls! The holiday kicked into high gear Wednesday night (November 30) when New York's massive Christmas tree was lit during "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Plenty of A-listers were on hand, including Justin Bieber, who premiered his highly anticipated <a href="/news/articles/1673689/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-video.jhtml">video for "All I Want for Christmas Is You,"</a> featuring Mariah Carey. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:715720" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Before the strings of lights were illuminated, performances from Michael Bublé, Katharine McPhee, Big Time Rush, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond warmed viewers up. But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere. Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic <a href="/news/articles/1673334/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-song.jhtml">"Little Drummer Boy,"</a> which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was even joined by Busta Rhymes, who appears on the <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> cut. JB then slowed things down with <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml">"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),"</a> leaving his female fans swooning as he crooned the holiday standard. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track. "God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks. In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts. Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. They filmed the video earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season. <i>Did Bieber get you in the holiday spirit? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>

Jackson (Nick Fury) and Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson) rallied together to answer "Avengers" fan questions, covering topics like Easter eggs and cameos, characters who didn't make the final cut, and the differences between this movie and the previous Marvel flicks we've already seen.
Read on, Marvel Mania has five highlights from yesterday's chat!
Spider-Can't
One of the biggest "Avengers" rumors spinning across the Web in recent weeks involved a surprise Spider-Man cameo. In the alleged scene, Spidey would be seen swinging past Captain America, Iron Man and the others in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance. No one expected Whedon and company to flat-out deny the rumor, but if there's one thing fans should know by now, it's never to assume anything about the "Buffy" and "Angel" creator.
"There is no Spider-Man cameo," Whedon said matter-of-factly when asked about the rumor. "But the Avengers do turn off the dark."
Stings Like a Bee
Of course, even without a Spider-Man cameo, fans can't help but wonder about other Marvel characters who might sneak into "The Avengers." Whedon and his trio of stars wouldn't tip their hands regarding any secrets, though he did joke that any and all Easter eggs would be "actual dyed eggs. Try to find them all!" In all seriousness, Whedon did identify one "Avengers" character he wishes he could've included in the film: "I'm a fan of the Wasp. She's goofy and sting-y."
The Loki Dilemma
Being bad isn't always easy. Fun, sure, but not always easy. Hiddleston was asked numerous times how he's able to tap into a character as nasty as his displaced Asgardian villain, which he acknowledged as an occasionally serious obstacle.
"The biggest challenge was magnifying his menace without losing touch of his emotional truth. Keeping his chaos honest," Hiddleston said of playing Loki. "Sometimes you wake up feeling warm and sunny, but the scene requires hatefulness and spite. You have to reach deeper. And stay aware of the fact that the emotions are true, but they're not mine."
Coulson Unbound
One fan-favorite character expected to get a major makeover in "The Avengers" is Agent Coulson, the stoic S.H.I.E.L.D. operative first introduced in "Iron Man." Clark Gregg has long teased his upcoming turn as an action star in Whedon's superhero-studded flick, and he reiterated during the Twitter chat that "more layers to Coulson's world/powers [will be] revealed." Coulson is so beloved, in fact, that one fan dubbed the character the "Chuck Norris of 'The Avengers.' " The title prompted an amazing response from Gregg: "[All] due respect, but Coulson [would] crush walker tex ranger ... w/ a bag of flour." Co-signed, Clark!
Going in Blind
It's doubtful that many of the people walking into "The Avengers" this summer will walk in blindly. For the most part, the movie-going masses will be at least fleetingly familiar with the exploits of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and Thor. But if by some chance you haven't seen previous Marvel movies but still want to get in on "The Avengers," Whedon promised that you do not need to know a single thing about Earth's Mightiest Heroes or the House of Ideas at large going into the battle.
"You don't need to see any Marvel movies to enjoy Avengers," the director said. "But you need to see 'Steel Magnolias,' like, six times."

It's a 'good step' toward happiness in her life, Jordan Miller of Britney fan site Breatheheavy.com says.

<P><P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> is <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/britneyspears" target="_blank">"still glowing"</a> after longtime boyfriend <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">Jason Trawick popped the question</a> to the pop star on Friday. The two spent the weekend in Las Vegas, where Spears flashed her Neil Lane engagement ring as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials and Trawick's 40th birthday. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720837" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Friends and family have been showing their support and <a href="/news/articles/1676171/britney-spears-engagement-fan-reaction.jhtml">well-wishes</a> for the couple's upcoming wedding, including Spears' <a href="/news/articles/1676192/britney-spears-engaged-k-fed-comments.jhtml">ex-husband Kevin Federline</a>, who told <a href="http://tvweek.ninemsn.com.au/blog.aspx?blogentryid=963715&showcomments=true" target="_blank"><i>TV Week</i></a> magazine that he was "really happy for her." Yet it seems that no one is as happy for Spears than her die-hard fans. MTV News spoke with Las Vegas-based webmaster Jordan Miller, who runs Spears' biggest fan site, <a href="http://www.breatheheavy.com/" target="_blank">BreatheHeavy.com</a>, and he told us just how thrilled he is about the news. "I was pretty excited for Britney when I found out she was engaged," Miller said. "I think it's a good step for her to have some sort of relationship where she can share her feelings and thoughts about her life, so I'm happy for her." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> And it seems all of his followers agree. "The overwhelming reaction from fans about the news of Britney's engagement is that they're really happy for her," Miller said. "They think it's such good timing for her, to finish the tour and kind of have a break and be able to start a new chapter in her life. So I think the majority of fans are really happy for Britney and that it's definitely a good step for her." The news doesn't come as a big shock to Miller, since rumors of Britney's engagement have been swirling for months. "There were rumors for the last six months pretty much saying he was going to do it in December," Miller said of the couple, who have been <a href="/news/articles/1676167/britney-spears-jason-trawick-engaged-timeline.jhtml">dating since 2009</a>. "So it's cool to see that it actually happened and she's going to get married." Details have not been released as to when Britney will tie the knot, but it seems Miller already has the perfect wedding gift in mind from all of her fans. "If fans could get Britney a cool present, it would be a vacation to a tropical island where she didn't have to be around anyone but Jason," Miller said. <i>What do you think of Britney's engagement? Let us know in the comments. </i></p></p>

Previews for 'G.I. Joe,' '21 Jump Street' and others will premiere during Sunday's big game, with some trailers already available online.

In recent years, the Super Bowl has given movie fans an entirely different reason to look forward to the big game. Movie studios have been using the highly coveted ad space to spread the word about their high-profile releases set to the hit theaters in the coming months.
Super Bowl XLVI is guaranteed to be no different, with some of the summer's biggest blockbusters already lined up to have spots during the big game. Some of the ads have even hit the Web in the days leading up to the game.
Paramount unveiled both of its ads — for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and "The Dictator" — online prior to Sunday's big game. The second preview for "G.I. Joe" shows more of the same over-the-top action that made the first trailer a hit, while the clip from "The Dictator" comes with a special Super Bowl message from star Sacha Baron Cohen in character.
Super Bowl trailer for "The Hunger Games" early on Thursday (February 2) when Yahoo! posted the full-length video featuring new footage from the adaptation of the best-selling novel.
Fans of America's favorite sport will get a realistic glimpse into the lives of America's greatest heroes. "Act of Valor" is a fictional military film that stars real-life Navy SEALS in the roles of the onscreen soldiers. The ultra-realistic military action film will debut a new preview at some point during the game.
On top of all the film previews set for the Super Bowl's commercial breaks, a good number of other ads use some of the movies' most iconic characters to spice up their products. Volkswagen will continue their use of "Star Wars" characters in their car commercials, with two new spots featuring music and characters from the films.
Additionally, Honda's ad featuring Matthew Broderick in a Ferris Bueller-inspired day off from acting found a lot of traction online when a 10-second teaser and eventually the entire commercial hit the Web in advance of game day.
And for all the "Twilight" fans out there, unfortunately, Edward and Bella won't be making an appearance, but an Audi ad takes a lot of inspiration from the film series in its vampire parody ad.

I'm here! I'm here! And I saw my first gang-banger get arrested yesterday so I feel like a total Angeleno.

I'm getting ready to go to the gym (again, like a total Angeleno!) so I will update later about my run-ins with Alexander Skarsgard, Pauly Shore, and Jeremy or Jason London (I'm not sure which one it was and seeing if I could force him to do drugs to find out seemed unfair. Besides, as it turned out, he was telling the truth?)
Anyhoo, I've got a lot to tell you about gardening! (Did you know if you get dirt wet it turns into mud? Yuck.)
And bumpers! (They don't bump off anything... they go, "Scraaaaaaaatch!")
And there's probably more but, again, I have to go because I have to get to the gym!

Watson is in talks to star in the Yates-directed 'Your Voice in My Head.'
By Kara Warner

No, this is not about another "Harry Potter" movie, but a potential re-teaming of superstar Emma Watson and director David Yates for a new drama called "Your Voice in My Head."
According to Deadline New York, Watson is in discussions to play the role of a young woman who attempts suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who's dying of cancer. The film is based on author Emma Forrest's memoir of the same name, the screenplay for which Forrest also wrote, and it is expected to be Yates' next project. He and Watson worked together on the final four "Potter" films, and Watson has always spoken very highly of Yates' abilities as a director and the environment he creates on set.
Warner Bros., the studio reportedly shopping the project for Watson and Yates, is said to be looking at heavy hitters like Tom Hanks and George Clooney for the role of the psychiatrist.
While we wait for the official details to be confirmed, Watson can currently be seen in Oscar hopeful "My Week With Marilyn" and will appear later this year in the much-buzzed-about adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's coming-of-age novel "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."
"It's so funny because I never thought I'd make another sort of high school-esque movie," Watson told us of her role as Sam, the love interest of main character Charlie (played by Logan Lerman). "And here I am in this coming-of-age, American teen [movie]. But it's very witty, and it's very funny and it's very moving, so I'm excited."
In addition to being up for "Your Voice in My Head," Yates, who was also rumored to be in talks for taking on the big-screen version of "Dr. Who," will make "A Reliable Wife" for Sony.

'This tour is going to be really good for her,' psychic Jesse Bravo says of Gaga's planned 2012 BTW Ball.
By MTV News Staff

<P>As 2012 rolls along, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> has already teased she has some <a href="/news/articles/1676582/pop-culture-news-2012-beyonce-lady-gaga.jhtml">big plans</a> ahead. So MTV News decided to look to New York-based psychic Jesse Bravo to see what fate has in store for the pop superstar. Bravo recently rolled up to the MTV News offices and looked into his crystal ball. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:722498.id:1676617" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "Lady Gaga for 2012, it's going to be sort of a slower year for her because she has her tour, which means she's not putting out a lot of new material," Bravo explained, despite Gaga's tease that she is working on her <a href="/news/articles/1675458/lady-gaga-next-album.jhtml">follow-up to 2011's <i>Born This Way</i></a>. "So for me, when I sort of looked up around there to see what was happening for her, I saw her sales sort of slow down because of new material. But she's also building up this new momentum for running her base for this tour. This tour is going to be really good for her." Gaga has already thought about the <a href="/news/articles/1675649/lady-gaga-born-this-way-tour.jhtml"><i>Born This Way</i> Ball</a>, tweeting over the holidays that she was pondering the things she wants to sell on tour. "Designing merch for the tour, when you see it you will die. <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/152392027093483520" target="_blank">#deathbyinexpensiveglamour</a>," she wrote. Mother Monster is also famously known for her wild style, which Bravo said won't disappoint in the next 12 months. "I believe her next big outfit is a cross between two things, and I was sort of stuck in between, like, where I should go with this because I saw two outfits, which means they can come in succession," he said. "I don't know which one is going to come first. But I will believe the one that I saw is this outfit, and I can't really describe it, but it's going to have lights embedded in it. So it's going to be pretty bizarre. And then I saw another outfit and it's like a body outfit, one that you spray-paint on, and I don't know if it's a stars-and-stripes theme, but I saw that there were stars and stripes in the right areas." In addition to all the ups in her career, Gaga's personal life will also prosper, according to Bravo, which means that she may get even more serious with her rumored beau and "You and I" co-star, "Vampire Diaries" actor Taylor Kinney. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:722468.id:1676617" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "Her personal life is going to stay stable for a while. The reason why is that on the outside she shows she's a strong character — and for business she is — but on the inside she's a mush. And so as a result, she needs to have her relationship in place, especially right now when she needs that support on going on something that's so big," he said. "Two years is a long, long time [to tour]. I don't think that relationship is going ... it's not going out." Just how serious might they get? Well, Gaga, believe it or not, is already pondering a family, according to Bravo. (Although she did note in a recent interview that the only family she is focused on is <a href="/news/articles/1676799/beyonce-baby-lady-gaga.jhtml">her new music</a>.) "I also feel this need of having children. So I don't know how this is going to play because we know she has a tour and she's not going to stop the tour short to have a child," Bravo predicted. "And I know that work is on her mind, but I know that [her spirit guide] Liberace is telling me about a child. And I know that in the back of her mind, she wants one. I think with her, it's about scheduling ... and I would say we're looking somewhere at 2014-2015. That's going to be her time." <i>What do you think about Jesse Bravo's predictions for Lady Gaga? This year's Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue features some of the most dazzling starlets in Hollywood. The '20s-inspired cover includes Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins and Brit Marling all dolled up in vintage, satiny, pastel-hued gowns.
Standing center-stage on the cover is Lawrence in a silver gown alongside Mara, Chastain and Wasikowska. Shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino, the shoot was meant to pay homage to Art Deco and Jazz Age designs.
In behind-the-scenes footage, Mara confesses to having a teenage crush on Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and owns up to a "guilty pleasure" love for "Zoolander." "I would watch playback sometimes if it would be helpful," she later says about her Oscar-nominated work in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," noting that she has yet to see the film in its entirety. Lawrence also opened up on the set of the shoot talking about her own teen idols. "When I was little," she recalled, "I guess '90s era, I had such a big crush on Justin Timberlake from *NSYNC that I almost threw up." These days the "Hunger Games" actress' idols include the Coen Brothers, Renée Zellweger and Tommy Lee Jones.
In other VF news, Kristen Stewart was spotted wearing some really high-end couture in Paris for her own shoot for the magazine. The spread, also shot by Testino, will appear in an issue later this year. In photos on E! News, the "Snow White" actress looks like the fairest of them all in her blue-and-black tulle and feather-adorned ball gown. She tops off the look with a black geometric-style fascinator.
